The Getrag V160/V161 Gearbox, renowned for its performance in vehicles like the Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R and Toyota Supra JZA80, exhibits notable strengths. However, when power levels exceed 700HP, certain weaknesses may surface.
One significant issue involves the cracking or breaking of teeth on the Input Shaft Gear due to crowding, resulting in thin and closely spaced teeth. Additionally, the Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R faces another vulnerability with its small diameter 24-tooth clutch disc spline, whereas the Toyota Supra employs a larger spline setup, albeit still inferior. Ideally, transitioning to a GM 26-spline setup would be advantageous.
To address these concerns, we're currently in the process of developing components for the Getrag V160/V161 Gearbox, specifically focusing on the mentioned parts.
Key enhancements include:
Included with these improvements is the synchronizer dog engagement ring, ensuring a comprehensive upgrade without the need to reuse any old components.
These modifications significantly bolster the reliability of the Getrag gearbox, enabling it to confidently withstand close to 1,000hp in demanding racing conditions.
It's important to note that our components are exclusively manufactured with a 26-spline configuration, as we find the 24-spline variant insufficient for high-performance applications. Our commitment remains solely focused on producing performance-enhancing parts.
Regarding fitment, the primary distinction between the GTR RB26 Getrag and the Supra 2JZ Getrag lies in the spigot/pilot bearing size. Rest assured, we'll supply the appropriate parts tailored to your specific order.
For orders pertaining to the Toyota Supra, please allow one week for us to customize the input shaft pilot bearing size accordingly.
